Universal Digital Air / Electronic Comparator Model DR-1 Series 2 – Quick Set-Up & Operating Instructions

1) Connect clean dry oil free compressed air source to comparator 80 min – 125 psi max input.

2) Switch comparator on.

3) Connect air gage tooling (probe, air ring etc.) to front of comparator.

4) With Normal (green) LED lit (Mode switch) press Menu button (#1). Display will read Lo In.

5) Place your low limit master on gage tooling covering jets and press Peak (#2) button. Display will go blank then a value will appear.

6) Press Value (#3) button to store this value. Note: The Back button (#4) is available if you need to return to a previous menu item.

7) Press Menu again. Display will read Hi In.

8) Place your high limit master on gage tooling covering jets and press Peak (#2) button. Display will go blank, then a value will appear.

9) Press Value (#3) button to store this value. Note: The Back button (#4) is available if you need to return to a previous menu item.

10) Press Menu (#1) again. Display will read Lo Rd.

11) Press Peak (#2) to access.

12) Using Peak (#2) button to move cursor and Reset (#3) to change values, enter the exact reading desired when the low limit master is applied. For example, if you want the reading to say .00000″ when the low limit master is applied, enter .00000 If actual size is desired, enter actual size of the low limit master, i.e .37450

13) Press Menu (#1) to store. The meter will say Store and then Hi Rd will appear.

14) Repeat steps 11 and 12 and enter reading desired when high limit master is applied.

15) Press Menu to store.

16) Press Menu two more times and An Lo will appear. Using the method described in steps 11 and 12 enter the “Full Scale High Limit” desired for the analog needle meter. If actual size is required, enter the full scale high limit desired in actual size. Default is .00150 when using with deviation from zero setup. Press Menu (#1) to store.

17) Press Menu (#1) again and An Hi will appear. Using the method described in steps 11 and 12 enter the “Full Scale Low Limit” desired for the analog needle meter. If actual size is required, enter the full scale low limit desired in actual size. Default is -.00150 when using with deviation from zero setup. Press Menu (#1) to store.

Note: Factory default setting for the analog needle readout is minus to the right or clockwise and plus to the left or counter-clockwise. These settings can be reversed by the user if desired.

COMPARATOR IS NOW READY FOR USE.
This comparator is capable of reading in .000001″ increments or .0001mm. (Actual sizes programmable TO .99999 (inches) OR 9.0000mm).

To calibrate for .000001″ increments enter the size 10 times greater than normal. For example, if low limit is to read .00000 and high limit is +.001 Enter .00000 into “LO RD” and .01000 into “HI RD” (Instead of .00100). The last digit is now .000001″. The effect of this is to add another decimal place. With this setting disregard the decimal point as we have moved it one place to the left. for +-.0003″ calibration to millionths – enter -.00300 to “LO RD” and +.00300 to “H IRD” (normal would be “LO RD” -.00030 “HI RD” +.00030)

After sampling rings. Be sure to enter similar values to analog meter settings (10x) as it is fed by the digital meter. For example, for +-.001″ Full scale needle readout enter .01000 to ”AN LO” and -.01000 to “AN HI”.
Switching the “mode” switch will “Auto Zero” the comparator (Red LED, Will Light). THis will “Zero” the current reading with no change to the spread. This function is useful for determining the condition of an ID or OD relative to “Zero” in under or overrange sizes.

In Camber Gaging Applications when TIR is needed, a convenient “Deviation from Zero” reading is possible. Please NOTE, that the “Zero” switch will re-zero the comparator each time it is switched to normal and back to zero.

To return to “Normal” mode switch “Mode” switch so that the green “LED” lights to indicate “Normal” mode. Meter will return to original settings with no change to spread.

USe “Quick Set Up” instructions to return to factory default settings. Sample “LO IN” and “HI IN”. use .00000 as “LO RD” and whatever is the spread between the rings as “HI RD” (If the high limit ring is .001 larger then the low: enter .00100 to “HI RD”) then reset “AN LO” to .00150, and “AN HI” to -.00150

There are no user serviceable parts or adjustments inside.
